6 MONTHS = 1/2 a year old!!

Drumroll please.....

My little Sock Monkey is 6 months old, weighing in at 19 lbs 7 oz and 27 1/2 inches long. He is in the 80th percentile for both weight and height. His head measurement is 95th percentile. It's a big noggin, but it's the cutest big noggin I've ever seen :) Connor's doctor's appointment was at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. Uhm, that sucked to say the least. He doesn't even get up that early, lol. but he was in a fabulous mood... until the shots were administered. Poor baby. We went ahead and got his flu shot. Adam and I have been debating it for 2 months, but since we will be traveling lots this winter, we decided to talk to his doctor and see what she suggested. She HIGHLY recommended the flu shot, especially since we will be flying a lot. She said that the risks of the flu are so much worse than the flu shot. Anyway, we decided it was best for our child, and it's definitely a personal parenting choice. Connor is quite the little stinker. He is trying SO hard to crawl, but can't figure it out yet. He doesn't nap like he used to. At all. But, it is so much fun having a 6 month old. He is on stage 2 baby foods now, and his doctor said we can even start him on meats. Right now, I'm holding off on that. I am introducing mixed fruits and mixed vegetables, and more of the stage 2 vegetables. We also got him yogurt, and I even got him the gerber graduates little "cheerio" flavored things. Yeah, that was a terrible description. Anyway, they basically just melt in his mouth and he feeds himself :) He is my pride and joy, and he's been a very happy baby. HOWEVER, he is so busy. Connor has to constantly being doing something or he gets bored and whines. That is why I am excited for him to start crawling. I'm excited for him to be able to do things himself, but I am going to be all over the place! He is so busy, and I know it's just going to get so much worse. Speaking of, Adam and I have a lot of baby proofing to do. I may go next week and get a few safety proofing things. It won't be long.. This past week has been INSANE. I mean, there is no other way to put that. Gus, our male pitbull, has epilepsy, and he had a really bad episode Tuesday. It is saturday and he is still way out of it. He can't walk, and it's a mess. I'm just praying to God he pulls through and we can get it under control. It's awful. Adam has been working his ass off too, which makes it really hard trying to drag a 75 lb dog to and from the vet when he can't even walk! .. and cleaning up poop. Agh! I need to take a deep breath sometimes and realize that I get my husband home at night. It might not be for long, but I get to see him everyday. He bought me flowers today because it's just been a rough week. He's the best <3 Halloween is Monday, and as you can see, Connor is a Sock Monkey! My mom made his little hat and diaper cover. It's SO adorable. I'll post more pics :) Enjoy!

:)

There's my little monkey. I cannot believe that he is going to be 6 months old on Wednesday. It drives me crazy! He is getting so big, and he is so funny. I'm going to update more about Connor on Friday after his doctor's appointment if he is feeling well and hopefully napping. Last week, I ordered 2 new bumGenius colors. Freaking love them! See:
Connor loves them too :)
The colors are so bright and bold. It makes me happy :)

Anyways, Adam signed me up for a class at Gold's Gym last week called Rip 60. It was the definition of Suck, and I got a cramp during the warm up. I don't want to pay an extra $20/month for the class, so I just signed up for the gym, and I'm going at least 3 times a week. Connor really seems to be enjoying the daycare they offer. He loves kids, and I think it's really good for him. Friday night, Adam and I went out on our first dinner date since I had Connor! It was lovely, but he cried for the baby sitter for the first hour. He is really starting to get separation anxiety, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I never leave him. He's used to Adam leaving him, but NOT me. When I went to see Footloose last Sunday, Adam said that Connor cried a lot too. :-/ I really enjoy my hour at the gym in the mornings to myself. I need it. It's been so long since I had "me" time, and I think it's important that every mother gets their "me" time.
p.s.- It has been a while since I posted about my weight watchers journey, but I am 2 lbs. away from my goal weight of 120. I am still doing it, and I'm happy with where I am :) It feels good to be so CLOSE to my goal! So, if anyone wants to know what my "secret" was.. it isn't a secret. I just nursed Connor and then did weight watchers after that.

A little change :)

So, Adam and I are going to be in this godforsaken house for 2 1/2 more years. We decided we do NOT want to move unless we have to. SO, Adam and I talked and he agreed to let me make over our house to make it more a "home." Our house in NC is 1280 sq. ft and the house here is 1750 sq. ft. Quite the difference, and we didn't have "things" to fill the space. Everything was so bland because the walls in NC were so colorful and here they are white. I thought some color might spruce it up! Here's what I did with a little inspiration from pinterest:

I spray painted the mirror teal :)
                                                              Perfect <3
                                                        Yay for decorations!
                                          spray painted the silverware!
                                            My new kitchen :)
                                                            Living room :)
I love our new comforter set!
                                                                    Newness!
All new stuff for the bedroom!
                                                      Thank you Hobby Lobby!

                                                          Ah, looks so much better!
That picture of Adam and me used to have a gold frame. I am going to finish touching it up, but I spray painted it black. It was WAY too gold. (I'm spray paint happy)

Adam came home and said "thank you, our house is now a home." It feels so nice to have our house decorated so cozy- like :) This makes me so happy.  Anyway... here, of course is a picture of my handsome baby!

I gotta cut loose...

Footloose :) It was so good! I had my doubts because I'm totally obsessed with the original, and how in the world could they make Footloose without Kevin Bacon? But, I'm tellin' you, it was great!! They made it original, but kept parts of the old movie.. Like in the end, Ariel and Ren wear the same outfits that they wore in the original film. It was cute. Okay, and with that said, obviously you can't take an "almost" 6 month old in a theater, so YES people, I went without Connor. And even better, I went all by myself. I haven't had alone time in 6 months. I texted Adam several times. About 5 times in 2.5 hours, which is slightly ridiculous, but if you have a baby you understand. Am I crazy for just now getting out without my baby? Yah, probs, but hey, I did it. It made me remember that I am a person without Connor, and I heavily advise that all you momma's step out on the town (or into a movie theater) by yourself from time to time. (However, I'm sure most of you have or do and are thinking "wow, she just got out without her child??") Not that it would really make loads of a difference, but need I remind you, I live in Texas with no family and new friends. I just found a friend who I really trust to watch Connor. It's not that I don't really trust people, I just don't know them well, and that's not comforting when it comes to leaving your baby. I wish I had family here to watch Connor for us. We WERE supposed to go out Friday night, but the friend that was going to watch Connor had a stomach bug. And on top of that, Adam, Connor and I were all sick last week and into the weekend. Adam and I plan to go on a date friday night, and Morgan is going to watch Connor for us. Her and her husband, Blane, LOVE Connor :) Speaking of "the fat man," as Adam calls him, he MUST be cutting a tooth or twelve. He has been absolutely miserable these past couple of days. Drooling (even more than he was, if you can believe that), and gnawing at his fingers, my fingers, teething rings, socks, okay you get it... anything within his reach. Adam said he screamed bloody murder while I was at the movie. Yikes, sorry bout it babe. I feel awful for Connor, but I feel pretty awful for us too. It is heartbreaking to hear your baby cry in pain.. and did ya know it's a torture tactic used to "break" people? Yah, I understand that.. But, other than over these past couple of days, he has been happy, even through the runny nose, cough, and all around terrible cold we've all had. So, I know he must be in some pain if he is this unhappy. I got some pumpkins and Adam carved them last night. So much fun! Connor thought it was great for the most part. He's fully sitting and reaching and not falling! haha yayyy Connor! He gets stronger everyday. I bought him a couple of toys for Christmas today... well, he got one of them when I got home. I couldn't help it. He needs something that lights up and will keep him busy while he's sitting down. He can't really bounce all the time. I'll post a picture. He loooves it! So adorable. :) Okay, well here are some pics! Enjoy...

5 1/2 months!

Connor is changing so much weekly, or should I say daily! He is growing up so fast, and I'm trying to keep up! I'm not sure what happened to the baby that would just swing or just lay there. He is officially 5 1/2 months and officially sitting up unassisted! We have been working on sitting unassisted since he started trying to sit up from laying down around 4 1/2 months, but he obviously wasn't strong enough then. Over the past couple of days he has just been sitting... without falling over! He finally figured out how to catch himself and sit up straight (unless he is playing with his feet). And, I noticed that the cloth diapers and jeans combined really restrict him too, lol. So, he doesn't wear jeans around the house. I can't believe that he's sitting up without support, and in 2 weeks he will be 6 months old. It's ridiculous how fast the time has flown by. He has a hilarious giggle, and he really has a huge personality. He's so much fun!! Oh, I got the bumGenius laundry detergent in the mail Saturday. HUGE difference. Don't waste your time with other detergents. Just get the bumGenius one. His diapers don't smell, at all! Friday night, Adam and I are going on a date... at night this time :) haha I think since he is almost 6 months I can leave him. Call me crazy, but I just have a hard time leaving my baby. Luckily, I have a very understanding husband. We went to church again Sunday :) It was great, except for my chatty baby. Connor wanted to talk the whole service, so I think next week is nursery time. Mom sent Connor's halloween costume. He is going to be a Sock Monkey! lol... and yes I have some pics, but I'm just gonna wait til Halloween... okay, well heres what it looks like without him in it :)

Thanks Mom!! He looks adorablllle in it :)
here are more pics of my big boy!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

                                                        "Poor fella lost his stuffin'"
"Me and my handsome little boy"
"My husband (Daddy) and our sweet little Pumpkin"
                                                    "yee hawwww, farmer Connor"
"Please excuse my '1995' bang look.. it was windy ;), but here is my sweet adorable little family"
                                                               "My heart and soul"

                                                                  "Punnnnkins!"

I am so blessed! We had so much fun. 7 acre wood is this little farm area for kids and family, and we took Connor there today to go to the pumpkin patch.. Well, it was more like pumpkins thrown in a gated area, lol, but it was still fun. It was 85 degrees too... Oh, Texas! Hope you enjoyed the pictures :)

Kid screaming, Phone ringing, Dogs barking at the mailman bringing that stack of bills...

My life felt like a song today. Connor was screaming, the phone was ringing, the dogs were barking, and I had a pounding headache. That is enough to drive a perfectly normal person crazy!! I must say that God gives you patience when you have a baby, so don't worry all of you future mommas. If this was a year ago, I would have probably lost my mind. And when they say "it's different with your own..." it really is. No matter how annoying that sounds. Ha! Connor slept 10 1/2 hours last night though! From 9:30-8:00 :) Adam and I woke up a couple of times and were quite confused, but he was sound asleep. He usually goes to bed around 9:00 or 9:15 and will wake up around 4 or 5 for a bottle and then back to sleep he goes, but not last night! I'm not sure, but I think he's going through a growth spurt because he ate and slept most of the day today.. oh, and he fussed. It wasn't his day, but he is such a happy baby these days, I can't complain. I bought organic green beans and made them for him... annnnd he hates them. He shivered in disgust, gagged, and he even threw up a little bit. SO, I won't force him to eat his green beans yet. I'll just wait until he's a little older. The texture might gross him out too. It is quite funky. Anyway, this weekend was a lot of fun. Friday night, Adam and I went out to dinner, and Saturday we went shopping all day. I got my USMC Ball dress! I love it! We also got a new coffee maker. My old one was about 18 years old, haha.. about time! This one even has a timer.. welcome to the new age. My old coffee maker literally was from about 1990. Embarrassing. Sunday, my family went to church! It was kind of a battle to get Adam to go, but we were so glad that we went after the service was over. It spoke right to us, and the tension that we felt was lifted. Ironically, the sermon was about marriage and the "ugly" side of it. The speaker spoke truth and didn't sugar coat marriage. Hey, we all know it isn't always rainbows and butterflies, so why do we pretend? It's work and a 2 way street. I really love this church, and I'm looking forward to the new series this month. Back to Connor... he's sitting up really well, still, but he falls to the side sometimes lol. He hasn't figured out how to catch himself, but it's okay.. he's getting there. He's also started to cackle and it's hilarious. Well, here's some pics from the past week! enjoy :)
